As of now, even we are also newbies in this topic. But everything has
to start from some point , right ? Most of our friends here are eager
to know about this topic but they exactly dont know where to start
from . It will be really great if you can make this lecture very
basic, and give us some hints how we can proceed from there .

Yes , though not all students , a group of hackers here use
GNU/Linux for almost everything . Students here maintain servers .
Apart from that hacker group , others use GNU/Linux very rarely.

Very few have done OSS projects.
Like me and theyagarajan have contributed for Linux Desktop Testing
project (http://ldtp.freedesktop.org) and another guy called Arvind
has contributed for Evolution .

Our college computer center is open 24*7 . So it is students interest
which decides this time. There are few who spend almost all their time
in front of a comp :-)

Yeah , but i am not sure whether they are open source projects .

Very few , but i am not sure whether they will attend the lectures .
You may as well consider this as NO :(

Students have 6 courses and 2 labs per semester

Students get 24*7 internet access in the computer center but the
computers have only Windows . Only very few have access to internet
from a linux box.

Yes, it is a holiday.
This is a tough question :-( . Few go home , few stay and work , few
take rest .
