[glug-t] Query regarding /boot partition

Hi,

I have a doubt regarding the installation of Linux.

What is the advantage/disadvantage of creating a separate /boot
partition while installing Linux ( I would like to have both Windows
and Linux in my system ).

Till now, i haven't allocated a separate /boot partition when i
install Linux . So am i missing something by not providing the /boot
partition ?
