Hai all,
what our friend muthiah said is absolutely true. Mostly, all EPSON and HP
inkjets/deskjets are working without any problem. I am sure that Epson
stylus880 and hp deskjet 5xx and 6xx series are working beautifully in
Mandrake and Redhat.
But be careful about this HPLaserjet 1000. Its an odd printer, for which the
driver has not been released so far. HP is saying that they are not going to
relase the linux driver for this printer. And this printer is creating
problems in windows itself. People say Mandrake 9.1 supports this printer to
some extent.
As per docs, we have to download the firmware file (sihp1000.img, which we
can download from HP's site) to the printer evry time you turn on ur
printer. Mandrake installation itself directs us to give this command
cat sihp1000.img > /dev/usb/lp0..
But this command never ends:(
As per the 'Pattarivu Siththars' of linux community, this printer is not
functioning well. Be careful in buying this product.
