Hi,
Here's what I think blow-by-blow:
1. Should we install softwares/games like UT, CS, which can be used
through wine . Wont it be then glugt in the name of spreading free and
open source software spreading closed software .
Nope. It will violate GNU. I suggest that we give another CD/DVD that
comes under the title of "closed source s/w" or something that
communicates that. I think it is worth it only if it will comply with
the GPL (well OK, atleast in spirit). I would like to debate this on a
separate mail thread if any of you differ with my opinion.
2. What all distro's to be installed ?
As you say, for a crash [meaning you can do it fast (not as in, you
know like windows! )] preparation we can easily adapt Ubuntu/Fedora,
though we should start working on it soon.
We don't have huge amounts of time if it is in Jan.
As another thought, one guy (PK) told me about Anna University's LUG
has got a distro of their own that complies with GPL. It is totally
based on Debian and has no proprietary software. BUT: Googling for it
finds nothing. I'll catch PK and make him talk!
3. Where, When , do we conduct it ?
Anything is fine with me.. you guys decide. (of course if I can't be
there, I'll object.)
4. Do we make some arrangement for people to bring their CPU's from
their hostel ?
Not necessary. Thats really begging. I think we first need to take
stock of how high the demand is in the first place for this fest
itself (just to work out things). I suggest a registration page on the
glug site, or atleast emails. All this is after a good round of
marketing!
5. How do we distribute the job among us ?
Lets think of this later on. Let us decide what the agenda is. What we
want to accomplish.
And then we will break them down and split up the work.
