hello ppl ,
Has been a long time since any new stuff about GLUG-T has done was
posted in this mailing list . This ofcourse does not mean we have been
dormant . Just that we did not feel it much important to announce
stuff in the mailing list when most of the events were inside our
college .
A short updates of the recent events in glugt
In the beginning of the semester GLUG-T conducted classes where basics
about working in a GNU/Linux operating systems is taught . Topics
which were included in the classes were .
1. Shell
2. Anjuta
3. Debugging using gdb
4. Python
5. Installation amd lots more
And we had meeting every month except the last month where we were
very busy with the hectic shedulde .
Next what we have is the PENGUFEST .
So what is it about ?
People bring in their comps to some place where we install linux in
their comps . This is to help people who are afraid to install linux
just coz they are afraid that their data will be lost or simply they
donn know how to do it .
A lots have been decided about this event . Like
It is to be held on the second week end after college reopens . To be
exact it might be on 13th and 14 th of Jan 07
Still there are a few things to be decided .
1. Should we install softwares/games like UT, CS, which can be used
through wine . Wont it be then glugt in the name of spreading free and
open source software spreading closed software .
2. What all distro's to be installed ?
3. Where, When , do we conduct it ?
4. Do we make some arrangement for people to bring their CPU's from
their hostel ?
5. How do we distribute the job among us ?
Note :: It will be really great if people not involved in pragyan take
much interest in this coz people working for pragyan may already have
lots of work .
Hoping to get more ideas and suggestions soon
Bye
