[glug-t] [OT] Irritated

This mail is about a guy who got me really irritated... I know this mail isn't 
worth anything, but I am using it as a means to vent my anger.

With the campus placements starting up in colleges, students have started 
writing down their BioDs. Now there's this group of sloth heads who live 
aimlessly and the only job they do is eat, sleep and watch TV, with the "Why 
bother..." attitude.

Finding nothing to add in their BioDs, they add this -> "ACTIVE MEMBER OF 
GNU/LINUX USER GROUP - TRICHY."(Ofcourse these guys never attended a meeting, 
neither are on our mailing list, nor have helped us in our activities. They 
don't get the group name correct either.) To my surprise a great no. of people 
have done this. But I was never bothered, because strictly speaking, this 
doesn't really say much than "I know GNU/Linux.", and it did not affect the 
group in anyway.

But last week I got really irritated. There was this guy who came up to me just 
before his interview and said, "Vijay, I don't know anthying about your linux 
user group, but I have written it in my BioD. Tell me what you do in the 
group?" I was shocked. I don't really know how people manage to ask that. We in 
the groups core team have sweated and toiled to build this group. I answered 
back, "Check out our website http://glugt.linuxisle.com";. But I guess he didn't 
understand how irritated I was, as his next question was, "Ok, tell me what you 
do in your meetings?". I replied back "Come to our next meeting, you will get 
to know it!" He didn't stop at that, he asked, "Atleast tell me the difference 
between Unix and Linux." Great! Now we a chap who doesn't even know what Linux 
is or what GNU is and wants to claim himself as an "active member of the 
group". To add up, this guy's branch is Computer Science and Engineering.

I don't mind anybody writing anything in their BioD, but please, please do not 
irritate us like this!

On the contrary, if you really would like to be an _active_ member of the 
group, there is lot of work to do. Now that our group has stabilized, there are 
lot of projects we could take up. We are in need of more volunteers to carry it 
out. If you are interested in helping, send me a mail.
