I don't know what Novell's plans are... But they have acquired Ximian and Suse.
Ximian is the company started by Miguel and Nat to create a free clone of
the .NET framework called Mono.

During Linux Bangalore 2003, the Novell's stall sheltered Gnome hackers. And I
guess this decision was taken after a lot of feedback from the student
community at Linux Bangalore.

When companies work on free software, the company benefits, because of software
of the software created. But what differentiates it from proprietary software
model is that, it does not prevent others from benefiting from work.

Finally, Deepak has found the right way to reply to mails ;)
