In the directory .gnome-desktop create an entry named Trash with
the contents
# file contents start here
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Trash
Type=X-nautilus-trash
URL=trash:
X-Nautilus-Icon=gnome-fs-trash-full
#ends here !
the entry Name:Trash is the name that is displayed below the icon on the
desktop.
