Hi Deepak,
a mail from you at last!
Quoting Deepak Barua <db_barua@xxxxxxxxxxx>:
> How to connect through a http proxy to a Lynx text browser ?
There are two answers to this question
Answer1:
--------
Always try the man pages first.
Type in "man lynx".
Search for the word "proxy".
If what you read there doesn't make sense then try the info pages.
Unfortunately lynx does not have info pages. Its same as the man page!
Next thing to check out is
/usr/share/doc/
Luckily, you have some help information in
/usr/share/doc/lynx-*/lynx_help/keystrokes/environments.html
Search for the word "proxy" in this document.
Answer2:
--------
Type in
export http_proxy="http://<your_proxy>:<port>/"
and then start lynx.
Why did I give "Answer1"? Because, thats how I came to know the answer to
your question! Never used proxies with lynx before.
When I was very gnu to GNU/Linux, I was scared of man pages too. But the
hackers in my college, taught me otherwise...
