Hello World,
Linux all the way as Supercomputer OS!
In software, the crown goes to Linux, used on more than 70 per cent of the
total supercomputers. The open source platform has been used on 391 machines,
including eight of the top 10. Unix, comes a distant second with 98
supercomputers (19.6 per cent). Twenty-four supercomputers (4.8 per cent) run a
mixed environment, five run Apple Mac OS, four are based on Berkeley Software
Distribution (BSD), a flavour of Unix. The software giant Microsoft is at the
bottom of this list, with only two supercomputers using its operating system.
