[glug-t] July Meeting Minutes.

Venue :  Conference Hall, Octagon, NIT Trichy

The meeting started around 5:35pm. The conference hall was house-full
with 48 people. The first talk was on SNMP by Arthy, Third Year
ECE(NITT). Arthy explained the basics of Network Management and also
gave a brief introduction of the similarities of Manager-Agent model &
the Client-server architecture. The talk went on for around half an
hour involving all ECE-techie terms. Then the application of
SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) in GNU/Linux was introduced.
She also added that the Fedora package has got SNMP in it.

The QA session had a lot of doubts regarding the practical use of SNMP
& its application.

The next talk was by Bala. Bala gave a good talk for the beginners who
were enthusiastic about PHP. Bala told the basics about
webserver,client-side & server-side scripting. He gave the importance
of Dynamic webpages over static webpages. A demo of PHP scripting was
also given by Bala. He gave a solution for people who didn't have
accounts in web-servers by introducing them to uniserver, the
Windows-based server which included Apache,MySQL,PhpMyAdmin.

Bala's talk created an awareness of importance of PHP. People asked a
lots of doubts about the scope and future of PHP.

Before the General QA session, people were asked to select the topics
for the next monthly meeting. Topics such as working of GRUB,Database
Management were raised. Many of them volunteered to take up some
topics.

In General QA session, lots of queries regarding the installation of
Fedora Core were raised. It was more a discussion than a QA session.
