Hi Peter,
Thanks for the response.
I have:
Renderer: Rage PRO
Version: 1.1.3
Vendor: ATI
I looked at ATI.com and found a driver that supports OpenGL
But it requires DirectX8.1 or higher. I do not know what DirectX8.1
is and I do not want to risk installing this now because I am afraid
it might break something and I need the machine for work.

You need to have a OpenGL compatible 3D driver installed to get the 3D
board working. What driver that might be depends on your graphic card.
The standard drivers that are already included in Windows do not work,
so you need to visit the webpage of your graphic card manufactur and
download a fitting driver.
I cannot tell you which graphic card is built in your computer, but you
can find out by opening the Hardware manager in the Windows system
settings and look yourself. If it's a NVidia card, visit
http://www.nvidia.com. If it's an ATI card, check http://www.ati.com to
find a driver for your hardware.
Some (very) old cards do not support OpenGL, in that case you are lost.
In the 3D board window (even if it doesn't display the board, the window
itself opens, yes?), check menu "Help" - "About". In the second tab
"Graphics" of that dialog there is some info printed. On my box it reads:
OpenGL Information:
Renderer: GeForce FX 5200/PCI/SSE/3DNOW!
Version: 1.5.2
Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
If you see something like "Vendor: Microsoft", you got a standard
Windows driver. Those don't work well. You could copy&paste that info
and email it to me, otherwise I cannot tell you what graphic card you
have because I cannot look into your computer. :)
glGo with 3D generally works on Windows 2000. I used Windows 2000 myself
until some months ago to write glGo, so it's not a generic Win2000
problem but most probably related to either your hardware or the video
driver.
