Sounds like you had a very old glGo version installed on your desktop
before with a top-down 3d view in the config file.
Originally top-down 3d was the default, but as I got a couple of other
people saying exactly the same as you did, I changed the default view to
slightly rotated to make more obvious this _is_ the 3d board. This is
what you saw on your laptop. That change was done in version 0.0.8.1,
released a year ago - I cheated and looked at the ChangeLog, I don't
remember such stuff :)
This means, if you install glGo on a fresh system which never saw glGo
before now, you get a default rotated view. If you had some pre-2004
config file still around, your default view would still be the old
top-down. If you never had glGo on your PC before and it gave the
default top-down, it would be a bug and I have no explanation for that
behaviour now.
The defaults are also restored if you delete the glGo config file:
C:\Dokumente and Einstellungen\Peter\glGo\glGo.rc on my Windows box.
Otherwise it will remember the last 3d rotation, once you changed it.
