I would find a flipping stone too distracting.  I would vote for a glowing 
stone--maybe you could have some kind of subtle pulsing aura to indicate 
last move.

I agree on all points (and I hadn't heard of Crimson-Edit, I'll give it a 
look), but of course the vast majority of Windows users will have notepad 
as the default text editor.  What I didn't mention earlier is that after 
install the readme opens up automatically, so this 'problem' is fairly visible.

Another thing I'm not sure you're aware of is that during install, the 'I 
agree' button on your dummy license agreement page is blank.
