I would challenge this. The story of Lazurus and the rich man is not a parable. All other parables do not mention the names of people and can therefore can be allegorical. However however both Lazurus and Abraham are mentioned by name. So if this description of hell is wrong what does that make Jesus?

Now, this article by Steven Cox is about the best explaination of the parable Ive seen, certainly shows how much there is to Jesus parables rather than the simple stories they seem to be.
