Jack,

Philip has answered your question better than I could, but I will give it one more go.

I assume from your question, below, that the person coming to me is genuine and sincere, for if they are not then there is no point in wasting their time and mine. In this case, I would use a mix of logic, some science, some world events/affairs, and personal experiences (both theirs and mine).

At a later stage, I would point out parts of the Bible (and any other "holy book," by the way, since I think that they all contain some degree of truth) that cannot be denied based upon our mutual experiences.

Finally, I would introduce the bulk of the Bible, etc., as the work of the Devil, and tie this back in with world events/affairs and history (which is oh so important).

At this point, and I have seen this occur often now, they would be on their own two feet and would either take on board what we had discussed and reasoned upon, even prayed about, or go straight back into the world and the worldview of all these things, like a spring under tension that is suddenly released.

I think that this approach illustrates my belief that our life in this world is not long, but is more than adequate to enable us to come to know the real difference between right and wrong, to decide which side of the fence we want to be on, and to draw close to God or the Devil, as the case may be.

Regards,

Neville.

You are missing Nevilles point all together Jack//

Neville said he is NOT out to convince anyone..  He is acting in the natural order of presuming a God to his own intellect and conscience.
He implies everyone may do the same and be judged accordingly.

Without any externally  certain input direct from Heaven, I have to agree.. He wants a God of love.. If God is not a God of Love, then there is no point proceeding is there, except as a whimp. Love and whimpery do not go together.

He rejects your God as interpreted freely by your conscience according to a Book, which you claim to be the sole source of revelation...  the book and your conscience.. He likewise has no good reason, as he sees it , to accept any man made institution as being of Divine origins. without concrete evidence..  I did the same..

Philip.

Neville,
Why do you jump to such totally unnecessary and silly conclusions? All asked you was how do you convince someone who is searching to adopt your idea of the truth? How do you pass-on to him what you have found out?
Imagine someone who doesn't have your IQ and the best he could do at school was to get a 'C' in a geography GCSE. How would you tell him the 'good news' you have found out about God? Can you not see what it is I'm trying find out? It is a very simple question.

Neville,

How do you convince a seeker of the truth that he should listen to you? Why would I need to do that? I do not advocate "churches" and "priests." I am no one's "priest" and I am certainly not going to move to America and make my fortune establishing a "church."

What are you saying that will convince him that you have discovered the key? God is goodness and truth.

Jack / Neville
