Look at the larger of the two panels in the attachment. You will see that all the sidereal period points are looking at a fixed position in the sky thus no change will be observed.Also, note where the observer would be standing if he had his back to the axis of (ecliptic) revolution -- facing outwards. This only happens -- as Philip S has stated -- at midnight.Paul D.
