- It depends on what mail program you are using. The mail you are replying to has a number of header fields. Normally, when you reply to a mail, it should use the From: field of the message you reply to as to To: field of your reply. However, if there's a Reply-To: field in the original message, the mail program *should* use that field as the To: field of your reply. It seems that yuor mail program is broken, and not checking to see if there is a "Reply-To:" field, but just gets the info from the From: field.
