While SLAGA has had one or two little problems with parts of the
website site or the mail list being down, the Wisconsin folks are having
a real time of it.
-----------------
"Early Friday my main workstation ate its hard drive, so I'm pretty much
off line. Friday evening, the Wisconsin Geocaching Association webserver
crashed. Guess where the back ups where, yep... my workstation that had
died 8 hours earlier.
Saturday I try and work from home, and an unpatched PC had gotten infected
with the funlove virus, and infected the other PC in its trust
relationship, so I'm offline at home now too.
Sunday in the wee hours, I lose a backbone router in Milwaukee, so now not
only am I, but 7,000 of my customers are offline too. The WGA server will
have to wait...
Sunday evening, things are good, time to put the new WGA server back online
with its somewhat old backup, about 30 days of data and postings lost. Then
I discover that 9:30 that morning, the new server was hacked while it was
not completely firewalled during its rebuild. All that work is lost, got to
start over.
And I still don't have a workstation at the office. So I apologize for not
getting to the queue since Thursday, and boy have I got a lot of watering
hole messages to read now! Thanks to any who worked my states as the
backlog grew (I haven't even had a chance to check the queue yet). I hope
to be back to good shape and back in the saddle by tonight."
