I agree with Jim.  As long as you have a wireless card in your laptop,
find local wi-fi access points.  Almost all libraries have them now
for free, and many chain restaurants (McDonalds and [your town] Bread
Company come to mind) and stores (Borders and Barnes & Noble) offer
free access for their customers.
