These are to be my final words on the matter. If you have additional comments
or questions,
e-mail me.
I received a message off list from someone expressing their concerns over the
matter. I wont
say who it was, but here is their statement along with my response to them:
I don't understand your intolerance, cruelty, and lack of
forgiveness as a follower of Jesus. Isn't that the opposite of his
teachings?
The answer to that question is no. My intolerance is not in opposition
to Jesus teachings. Jesus was not cruel, nor was He unforgiving (neither
have I been in this case) however, Jesus was very INTOLERANT of sin &
depravity. I too am intolerant of these things & when I see them I speak
up and people don't like it.
Jesus said that His followers would be hated & persecuted just as He
was, and that is exactly what is happening here.
People who are not followers of Jesus fall into 2 categories. Those who
have the misconception that we who are followers are made instantly pure
& perfect. & those who hate Jesus and seek every flaw in us that they
can find in an attempt to discredit us, christianity and ultimately
Christ. I'm sorry, but we, I, am not perfect. It doesn't work that way.
It may be possible to discredit an individual, but Christ will NEVER be
discredited.
I realize that I am a sinner and that my heart is just as black as any &
everyone else's in the group. I wont get into all of my shortcomings
here, but I will say that one of my greatest areas of struggle is in
controlling my temper. That is why I blew up & told some people to shut
up. That was wrong of me and I will apologize to EVERYONE for my
outburst & pray that you will all forgive me for it.
As for the posts regarding Andy, I have not bashed him, nor is that my
intention. I said I was sorry he was having problems and that I would
pray for him (which I have done). I also simply stated that part of his
comments were inappropriate on the group. Nothing more. It wasn't until
a few people jumped my back that I felt it was necessary to explain why
I believed his comments were inappropriate.
As stated above, I sincerely apologize to everyone on this list for the shut up
comment,
especially you Barbara. I let my emotions control me and handled the situation
very poorly.
This has only hurt my credibility and witness as follower of Christ. Please
forgive me!
One more thing, when I said: "YES, IT IS FOR ME TO SAY" I meant that it is the
place of
EVERYONE especially christians to lovingly (which is something I must work on)
point out the
shortcomings of each other. I know I fully expect that of others regarding the
sin in my life.
I did not mean to imply that it was my place to JUDGE him or anyone else.
God bless!
Eric
