Not sure about the large group/general appeal thing -- but this cache is
definitely do-able in one day. It's about half way out on a 12 mile point to
point. You can either do 6 miles out and back or park cars at both ends (Taum
Sauk and Johnson Shut-Ins). That assumes that the Shut-Ins end of the trail
has reopened. Not sure about that. Also, you have to watch the water levels.
If the creeks are running high, the trail will be impassable just shy of
Devil's Tollgate coming from Taum Sauk. Similar issues at the other end near
the Shut-Ins, although I don't recall the exact location.
Also, there's not much else to do along the way. There used to be a couple of
other caches -- at Taum Sauk, at Minas Sauk Falls, and at Devil's Tollgate.
Think there's an Earth Cache at the falls now, but the others are gone. Might
be something around the Shut-Ins. Haven't looked lately.
That said, it definitely deserves its terrain rating. It's a pretty tough 12
miles either way.
Tom

I thought one day was all we were looking for?
"It is highly recommended that this cache be done as a 2-day back
pack"
If the idea is a hard one yes, but if the idea is to assemble a
large group of SLAGA members it might not be?
