Barry, I feel your pain on the slow connections. That is what I lived
with until early this month when they upgraded the service in this
area and dsl became available.  There are some radio frequency
wireless available in some areas.  We use it for a few of offices that
are not in dsl areas (including north St Louis).  It is about $100 but
the connection speeds are higher than dsl.
