This is what I do with my kids too.. I have it where they do it for me as 
well.. After all, I don't think that I would let my 8 year old be 10 minutes 
ahead.

  Just as an FYI, when doing the group caches that I've been on, we all walk 
along and chat and let our collective GPS units help us get into the general 
area, then everyone looks on their own. However, when you find it, you don't 
yell out "I found it!" and rip it open. You see it, then move on, perhaps 
pretending to look a bit more, then move off to the side of the searching area 
allowing others to find it on their own as well. Pretty soon, everyone has 
found it and moved off to the side, and the last person can pull it out and 
pass around the log book for everyone to sign.
