[GeoStL] Re: Intermediate GPS lessons?

Jen, and everyone else interested,

We had several technical "classes" last Fall which were popular. Having 
another with specific topics shouldn't be a problem.

Both the Garmin and Magellan do the same stuff, just with different screens 
and buttons, so knowing the units everyone want to learn on will allow us to 
have the right people to answer the questions.

The PDA's are the same story. The 2 platforms, Pocket PC (Windows) and Palm, 
basically do the same but in different ways so require different contortions 
to get the data in the PDA and make it viewable. This too will require users 
of each platform to explain everything.

One thing you must do though in order to get the necessary files from GC.com 
and display the cache pages in the PDA is become a paying member. It costs 
$30/yr and allows you to run Pocket Queries which creates a GPX file 
containing all the selected caches and cache page info. Running just 1 
pocket query for a trip out of town or to keep track of all the local caches 
is worth the cost.

Setting something up for just the GPS's can be done anywhere and outside, 
but for the PDA's, it needs to be done in a room somewhere with handouts or 
a laptop and projector.
