But then, so what else is new?
Anyway, since I made kind of an informal announcement at the picnic today,
here's my crazy news for those of you who weren't there.
I found out a couple weeks ago that I have been accepted to the Masters
program in Exercise Physiology at Mizzou. Since I will be attending school
courtesy of an assisstantship, I will need to relocate there for about 2
years. An assistantship means that I work for my department in exchange for
a (very) small salary and a complete tuition waiver. It's a form of cheap
labor for a grad program and is usually a whole lot of work for the money.
I have to report for duty on August 15. That's the reason I had to cancel
my attempt at having a second summer picnic/going away party. The only
weekend that worked for a picnic turns out to be the weekend I have to move
in.
Move in where? Good question-I'm going apartment hunting next week. The
other crazy part of the equation is that Michael and my daughter (going to
Meramec for college) wil remain in St Peters and I'll become sort of a
commuter wife and Mom. Michael and my family have been very supportive and
encouraging about my plans.
Otehr folks buy sports cars or have an affair for their midlife crisis-I'm
going off to school to work like a slave! Thus, I might really be out of my
mind.
After August 15 I'll certainly keep in touch with you all via the mail list
and hopefully I'll get a chance to cache or have lunch with some of you once
in a while. I plan to catch up with the Columbia and Jeff City cachers (hey
Lazylightning!) with whatever little bit of free time I get.
Once I get settled, I expect that if any of you are heading in my direction
you'll hollar at me and see if we can get together for a bit. I'm also
hoping that my studies and work will leave me a little free time to set up
an occasional picnic or group hunt in Columbia. They have some very nice
city parks and then there's Rockbridge just to the south.
Sorry for the wordy post, just a lot to explain.
Had a great time at the picnic today.
Susan
