[GeoStL] Re: Houston.. We have a Problem

-
We left Rosenberg, TX at 6:15AM Thursday, Sept. 22 for San Antonio, a 175
mile trip which took us 11 hrs. (normally 2 3/4 hrs>). Took us 8 hours to go
the first 60 miles to get to I-10 west. The speed on I-10 west to San
Antonio was faster and we covered the next 115 miles in 3 hours (by then all
lanes of I-10 was going west, they had reversed the east bound lanes until
about 20 miles east on San Antonio). We returned today, Monday, Sept. 26 in
the normal time about 2 3/4 hours. We had no damaged here in Fort Bend count
and Rosenberg. Only .25 in rain and winds of no more than 30-40 mph. Lots of
dead limbs to pick up in the yard. With the storm so far north and east of
Houston area and the west side being the cleaner side of the storm we missed
the bullet on this one. But when we left Thursday morning the Cat 5 storm
was headed right for Galveston and we would have expect 100+ MPH winds here
in Rosenberg. So we felt it was time to get out of Dodge. By mid day the
storm had moved north and east and danger here was reduced. The stores in
Rosenberg are not totally restocked here yet. We went to Wal-Mart about
8:00PM tonight. Very little bread, no fresh meat, no eggs, no soft drinks,
some milk. Looks like most non-perishables and produce were restocked.

Thanks for everyone's concern.
