[GeoStL] Re: Group cache on Tuesday for Aggets, and Aggets-Part Duex

Looks like a good turnout for tomorrow. Rain is supposed to end by 9AM and
there is only one place at the first cache (aggets) where it may be muddy.
Everything else is a flat gravel trail and the hill up the bluff is rocky so
the water runs off quickly.

So far we have Mike and Bridget, Susan, Bernie, John, Leroy, A&W, and me. I
haven't heard from the Jim's yet (Strider and Myotis).

We'll probably wait till about 9:15 at the commuter lot before we go to the
park lot. If anyone shows up late and we're gone, the coords of the park
parking lot are: N38 32.614 W90 37.490 or where-abouts. From the I-44 / HW 109
interchange, take HW 109 north for 3 miles. You will come to a stoplight at a
small bridge and Old State Road will be on your right. Turn right on Old State
Road and immediately turn right again on Grand or Washington Ave. Mapsource
shows both names on the maps and I don't remember which it is. Follow
Grand/Washington for about .4 miles and just before you cross the mini RR
tracks you will see the new parking lot on the left. The road dead-ends just
past the mini RR.

You will see the new trail on the right side of the road and it will lead you
to the two caches.

My cell # is 314-750-7526 so call and we can arrange a place to meet.

I looks like we have some interest in doing a group cache this Tuesday
(Oct. 28) at 9AM. We plan to meet at the commuter lot at I-44 and HW 109 in
Eureka. The lot is on the So. side of I-44 across from QT and is the exit
before 6 Flags if you are going West.

The 2 aggets caches are about a 2-3 mile drive from the lot. Since the
commuter lot is popular and is normally full, we may have to drive near the
cache area (Hw 109 & Old State Road) and park in the new County park lot.

The old gravel quarry and RR right-a-way have been cleaned up and is almost
ready to open as a new St. L. County park. New trail bridges have been built
and the right-a-way resurfaced like the Katy trail.

Total walking distance will be about 4 miles along a flat, packed gravel
trail. There will be one steep climb up the side of the overlook (walkable) for
one of the best views in St. Louis county.

Within the next month or so I will archive these two caches and place one
or two more that takes advantage of the layout of the park.

After the hike we can go to Eureka for lunch or pizza.

Here are the ones that have shown interest in this group hike:
A&W, rocksusan, Happykraut, Strider, Myotis, Le-roy, and Goshhawk.
Sorry if I've left anyone off the list but everyone is invited.

Commuter lot coords - N38 30.378 W90 37.519 (These coords may be off since
the cloverleaf is different than Mapsource displays). It will be close enough
to get you to the QT station and lot.
