These are growing in popularity quite rapidly. In the Houston area, there are
a number of caches that contain a wooden geocoin, enblazoned with a Texas star
with geocaching loga with the reverse side containing the geocaching website
address. Recently, metal coins have been introduced. These apparently are
minted by a firm in Canada, and have been specifically designed for the Texas
area. Other areas are also following suit. I am the proud owner of Serial
number 00000 of the Texas series. See the following link for photo sand

deposit some of the wooden coins when visiting the St. Louis area this
