I'm glad to see my efforts may be paying off, I'd love to see caching finally
"cache" on in the Quincy/Hannibal area! ;-)
I have mentioned this before, but I contacted the Corps Of Engineers @ Mark
Twain Lake a few months ago about placing caches on their land & they were
open to the idea, but said that they needed to write a policy regarding it
before they would allow it. They have been very friendly through out the
process & now the policy is complete.
I have one new cache over there with plans for several more along a pretty
tough 8 mile hiking trail as soon as the weather cools off a bit.
On Monday, I had a call on my answering maching from a reporter at the Quincy
Herald Whig wanting me to call her regarding geocaching at the lake. She said
the COE had contacted her & given her my name. I assumed she would want to get
together for an interview, but she simply asked me a couple of questions over
the phone. the interview only lasted a few minutes so I wasn't able to really
give her a lot of info, However, I did mention SLAGA and the Jeep TB's. :-) I
offered to take her out and let her experience caching for herself, but she
said she'd have to see what her supervisors wanted to do.
She called me back today & wants me to meet with one of the photographers (not
her) tomorrow night. I'm going to take him or her out to my Serenity cache &
hopefully get them to find it.
I don't know how informative the story will be, but at least it's something. I
contacted the media, both news paper and tv new a year or so ago, but got no
response.
