Dear Larry;
You do not deserve technology.
Dear Bass Pro;
You need to be bit more vigilant when you take a return.
Dear Larry;
The NEXT time you buy expensive ($120.00) software and keep it just long
enough to unlock it and we'll ASSUME load it into your computer or GPSMAP60csx
and then decided to RETURN IT -- you'd better hope the next bozo who buys it is
as HONEST as we are. See Larry, we're going to go ahead and simply return the
software to Bass Pro -- raise a stink and expect something FREE for our
trouble.
Larry, my dear, we promise you we will NOT steal your identity -- even though
we do now know:
Your Full Name
Phone
Address
Email address
and that somewhere in either your house or your car or perhaps boat ( since *I*
do not live in St. Charles, I'm not as familiar with the personal property tax
records to find out exactly what cars and boats you own -- if in St. Louis
County -- that's a piece of cake )you now have a rather expensive piece of
electronic equipment. Did I mention that when you unlocked the software the
unit ID number from the GPSMAP60CSX went with it?
Also, while listening to my hubby grumble about this and while watching Chicken
Little being voted off AI (and rightly so) -- a simple housewife such as myself
has found your Church, your wife's name; how many kids you have and even some
of the musical instruments you play. I know which caches are closest to your
home. I'm thinking that perhaps you haven't found those yet since I am familiar
with the names of the cachers who have found them since March 18 (when you
unlocked your software).
Also, Larry, here's what we'll not do. We'll not go ahead and unlock our new
unit onto your bogus "software". We COULD and then go ahead and return OUR, oh
I mean YOUR software. But there's always that chance you might be able to track
us back via your own illegal software -- but if you haven't deleted yourself
from something you are returning, we think we might be safe. We'll also not go
ahead and mess with your registration with Garmin by changing serial numbers,
unit id numbers or reregistering it to the Jefferson City Correctional
Institution that keeps allowing it's inmates to attempt calling collect to our
home. But it's been a lot of fun THINKING about all of these things.
Now, I'm not saying that you can't find out these things about me/us -- but
it's a better start when you have a bunch of personal info to begin with.
Dear Man Who Lives In My House:
The next time you return something to ANYWHERE (especially an expensive
something) and the Manager asks "Is there anything else I can do for you?" You
answer "YES -- I'd like a 20% discount on my entire purchase!" WHAT'S WRONG
WITH YOU??? Five years of Internet bargain shopping and you've learned NOTHING
from me? Sheesh
Dear Bass Pro Manager;
Is there anyway you could please let us know what happens after your staff
meeting tomorrow when you show everyone how to see if returned software has
indeed be used? Also, we'd LOVE to know if you get to call Larry and tell him
you are going to go ahead and put that charge back on his credit card.
Otherwise, the Map 60 csx is rather nice isn't it?
Hope to catch up some day Larry! We're really rather a nice family. Just a tad
put out right now!
Nancy
