- I think as the sport grows, this will become more and more of a problem. = Not only the intentional destruction of areas by out of control cachers, but also the unintentional destruction by us they don't know all the = different wildlife/plants. I'll be honest, most of the time I couldn't tell you if = I was stepping on a weed or an endangered plant. I don't mean to be destructive, but just the fact of getting to the cache, I can destroy = stuff. I would hope that by spending time out in nature that I will become = better educated about nature and I hopefully won't destroy to much in the = process. Maybe with the help of Jim and others who have the education about the outdoors, they can teach us city slickers how not to destroy the = outdoors, but to enjoy them and caching. -----Original Message----- From: geocaching-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:geocaching-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jjbusk2@xxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, February 22, 2005 5:55 PM To: geocaching@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [GeoStL] Condition of cache area - Hello all. Although I seldom have anything to say here, I read what everyone else = says. Recently I did a few caches. I was disturbed at the condition of the = cache=20 area. It looked like some hundred lb. turkeys were in the area. In one area = big=20 slabs of rocks were pulled out and turned over. Some were pushed down = the hill.=20 Another area the rocks were pulled out from under a man made object and = left laying around. I feel that some of the people who give us permission to hide=20 caches would deny us this privilege if they would see the havoc some of = us have=20 left behind . I know that talking to the people who frequent this e-mail site is like=20 preaching to the choir. What to do? I am sure that some of you people can come up with better = ideas. My thought is to stress on EVERY cache page that everyone leaves the = cache=20 area in as natural a condition as possible. What are your thoughts?=20 Believe me I am not a "tree hugger". But I do think this problem needs = to be addressed as our ranks swell. John (Talks Funny) **************************************** Our WebPage!
