Thanks to everyone for their nice messages of support. I am back online - at
least during the day - and hope to get my PC replaced after we get into
temporary housing sometime this week. The article Doug forwarded is true,
the 'net is a stress reliever - the messages on all of the YahooGroups I'm
on prove that life is going on.
We still haven't found Jack, but they are cleaning out the house and haven't
found him yet there. They expect to be done with the cleaning, so at that
time we'll be able to figure out if he made it outside or not. The
construction crew will start demolition on Thursday, then it will be about
four months until we can move back in. I am sending Gary some photos to
scan, so I should be able to upload them sometime this week. I hope to keep
a photo album of the entire restoration procedure and post the photos
online.
As far as your question, Dave, yes, I have spectacular insurance. These
people came out the first day and went right to work to restore my house, my
stuff, and my life. If they continue to perform in the manner in which they
already have, I will be Safeco's most enthusiastic salesperson.
Oh, yeah. The eTrex is covered with a coating of thick, sooty, goo, so I
think it's going to be trashed. I will, of course, be able to get a
replacement - hopefully soon.

Barbara - I don't want to pry into your life and you don't have to respond
if you don't want to - but did you have insurance?
If there is anything your geocachers friends can do, let us know.

This is dreadful, I don't know what I could do but if you need something,
just say so. I am sure we could make some of it happen.. Most of the
*stuff* can be replaced, I sure am glad to hear that you are OK.

Note: yes, my mail has been bouncing, and might be doing that from time to
time as I can only access it from work - at least for a couple of weeks.
We
had a major house fire on Wednesday, and we will be moving into temporary
housing next week until they finish gutting and remodeling my house. We
lost
almost everything - the expert has determined the cause to have been a
faulty power strip due to manufacturer defect.
