- Mike: you have asked a very good question that has concerned me as I do various caches and also read other "finders" posts. Recently there was a cache that I went to twice ( Jon's First Cache). I could see and feel the film canister, but I could not extract it from the hole in the tree. Others have had the same problem. I did not log it as a find, because I did not retrieve it and sign the log. Now the canister has been shoved deep inside the tree and is totally non capable of being retrieved. I have also read posts that say they only found part 1 of a multi-cache, but chose to log it anyway, because they felt part 2 was missing? I have a micro cache (without a pencil) that has been difficult for several people to find, yet several others have posted finds, but said they didn't have a pen to sign the log (gee - it's only 100 yds to the parking lot). I think each person has to set their own standards and live with it. I guess I think this is a game that I am playing, but I am only competing with myself.
