We returned from GW4 yesterday. All in all we hit about 100 caches.
The GW4 event was fun, meeting so many cachers from all over the
country. Taking to one of the organizers, 9Key, he said there were
over 750 registered attendees. Our biggest day was 45 on Memorial Day.
These were mostly close to the car since my brother (TollyTX) sprained
his ankle Sunday at one of his own caches. So instead of doing much
caching Sunday we spent a little time at the hospital. He felt up to
doing short walk caches Monday so we did. We did quite a variety of
caches while down there. We did hiking caches on Saturday and Sunday.
We saw a bobcat and a tarantula! Monday was park n grab day. All in
all a lot of fun.
Unfortunately the pocket caches that Mike mentioned are causing some
real problems, where GC.com has archived and locked all pocket caches
brought to GW4. Jeremey has stated that these are NOT okay and ordered
all such caches archived. So pocket caches are no more but I wish they
would also address temporary event caches like the ones at MOGA. I
wish they would create a new log type for temporary event caches that
otherwise meet all GC.com guildlines.
Anyway, we had a great time.
