We were lucky in Manchester, I only lost power for about 5 hours it was
restored at about 12:30! I took a walk this morning and several trees are
down in my neighbors front yards, but we were spared this time since the
last storm wiped us out!
The East Terminal Roof of the airport was ripped away and 2,000 people were
stranded in the airport basement by luggage pickup, but they now have power!
It looks as though North County took the brunt of the storm and the cell
moved through south city!
The Casino Queen sign was ripped down and the East St. Louis area was hit
pretty bad too, destroying several restaurants in the area. A building
also fell onto the Eads Bridge, but it is now cleared.
At 6:00 this morning is was reported 500,000 homes were without power!
Mostly in north county!
Missouri-American Water has reported a boil effect for 3 minutes for
drinking and eating for people north of !-70 in the St. Louis area!
I would hate to be in AmeranUE's shoes this morning, they are reporting that
some people may be without power for more than a couple of days. They also
report this is their worst storm scenario in the 100 year history of the
company! Last year in Manchester my neighbors were without power for 4
days, and AmeranUE says that this storm was worse!
Watch the price gouging begin for generators!!! My sympathy's go out to
anyone who lost their power! Stay cool and keep those fridges shut!
