[gameprogrammer] Re: why Always C++

I have to agree with what's already been stated, that we would all appreciate the use of capitalization and complete sentences using words which are generally complete words and not leet speak. You'll find that most of the ACTUAL internet elite find the use of leet speak to be somewhat juvenile and a waste of time.

Back to game programming, it's great that you're so interested, that's a good start! The gamedev.net website is an excellent starting place. For OpenGL programming, I recommend nehe.gamedev.net. It's where I started with OpenGL and finally started to understand it at all. Unfortunately, asking for someone to help you specifically on ANY mailing list is likely to not get much positive response. It's kind of like going into a lecture hall and asking for one-on-one time with the professor: It's not going to happen.

I know it's probably not what you want to hear, but there are so many good tutorials online (the ones suggested being some of the best starting places for looking) that nobody will likely help you (unless they're already a friend or relative of yours) like that. But I can promise you it's possible to do it mostly on your own! We all started there, and we all looked up tutorials on games and C/C++ or Java, or Delphi or VisualBasic, or OpenGL, or SDL, or DirectX, or any number of other theories, languages, and APIs on our own, and many of us have done rather well. And I think the rest of us (those who haven't done as well) probably will admit that we could given more time, drive, or focus. ^_^

Best of luck, and if you get stuck on anything specific, please feel free to use us as a resource! ~_^
