I wonder if good management could mitigate this. I mean if you just
lucked in to hiring
someone really good, then perhaps not. But if you were seeking to
identify only the
very best, then perhaps you could find more? Especially if you were a
genius friendly
company with a good work environment.

Also, perhaps those who had potential could be groomed into becoming
key members?
Basically hire at all levels, but with an eye for who could possibly
progress into being a
key genius level member, and then follow trhough on helping them get
the training and
experience to get there.

This would seem like an obvious opportunity to me. If one were to
major in programming
and minor in business and were able to add some expereince in both
fields to your book
learning, then you would be a very valuable employee.
