That might be a part of the problem, btw.  When I entered the video game
industry I already had 7 or so years' experience with professional
software development.  However, I understood that in games industry I'd
be considered, well, not exactly junior but certainly not a seasoned vet,
and so I accepted lower pay as well.  After about a year later I was OK
again, as far as income is concerned.

Depends on how badly you want to get in.

Heh, I wouldn't call Crytek's standards exactly *low*. ;-)  Crysis is
probably the most anticipated title to be released in 2007, according to
all those funny press ratings.

Also, I'm not supposed to talk about salaries publicly but you could
earn here roughly the same numbers as you mentioned, but in euros.
German taxes are probably way higher, though.
