Hi,
I am doing masters as well in Information Technology. I could have done a
masters in game development but I find that if I do it it limits my
horizons. I although am planning to specialize in networking and distrbuted
computing. I am sure every aspect of CS helps a lot in game development.

If you are interested in game programming as a career choice after you get
your masters, you don't have to get a masters specializing in games.
Something that might serve you better would be to look into AI and
Bioinformatics(working on biological logic solutions, genome stuff, etc),
Image Processing(computer 'vision') other graphics stuff, networking(with a
line towards distributed systems), etc. If you go into one of those, you
will be well suited to the games industry, without specializing in 'games'.
