For what it's worth, this is probably not his fault directly.

I've recieved this kind of email before, and googled a bit on what it
was. It turned out that when you register on some/most of these social
networking thingies, they ask for your gmail/yahoo/whatever login to
"import your contacts", but forget to mention that such a spam will be
sent to all of them (yeah, that's true).

Quite a piece of shit indeed.
