Just one quick note, if you do go for the mediawiki software, it comes
set up to support posting under the GNU Free Documentation License. If
you don't want contributions to be posted under the GFDL, mediaWiki may
not be the best choice, as I'm not sure how much customization would be
needed to change that license choice.

On the other hand, mediaWiki does support image uploads, and images can
be really, really useful to describe certain aspects of game programing.

Any wiki software that can support image uploads, and does a decent
job at a Recent Changes list, gets my vote.

Cheers!
Paul
