[gameprogrammer] What language / toolkit to use for platform-independent game programming...?

Greetings!
I subscribed to this list long time ago just to see how it was, and now I
see there's a real nice game programming community here :) so I thought I'd
ask something ^^
I want to make a game in Linux, but platform-independent. In Windows I used
to use DarkBASIC Professional, DIV Games Studio 2 and Fénix. I wonder if
there are some game toolkits or wrappers for making games in Linux. I don't
really care if the toolkit/wrapper uses c++ though it would be better if it
doesn't :). I'm looking for OpenGL wrappers and such that allow me to focus
in the game and the media itself rather than the programming of the game.
I've heard about OGRE but it's a pain to set up - and it's also for C++
-_-'. Irrlicht engine is good too but it also requires C++... I'm looking
for something that's -not- C++, and allows me to make 3D games...
Anybody got ideas?
