Hope y'all have a perfect Christmas :) We'll do ok this year, Xmas eve
with close friends, a few get-togethers in the next week. But what i'm
really looking forward to, is /next/ Xmas. Cos by then, if plans work out,
we'll be living deep in the north woods of Canada :)

My wife & i are in the process of purchasing 100 acres of bush near
Huntsville, Ontario. The land is about 70% rolling hills covered by dense
mature hardwood (maple, beech, oak), about 10% pine spruce & hemlock, and
about 20% marsh & beaver pond. We've seen deer on the property, and the
neighbor has seen moose, wolves & black bear. Our preferred building site
is about 650' in from the road, u can't see the property line from there,
or see a neighbor's lights, even with the leaves off in winter.

We have a mountain of detailed planning and bureaucracy and hard work
between us and that, but mighawd, to live in a house we built, located
where /we/ want it, not where job or relatives or anyone else wants it, is
a gift in the truest sense of the word. We won't have a tree this year, but
next year, we'll have 50,000 trees, and the privilege of walking out in our
own back yard and cutting a Xmas tree from a living stand of them. Wish us
luck :)

Merry Christmas '04, and '05 too, live long and prosper :)

cheers - grant
