[gameprogrammer] Re: Seeking 3D Game Studio Coder / Modeler Help With...

Dude,
I told you, that you are more than welcome to help out on my game.

I am currently working in 3D Game Studio Commercial Edition A7, and need help with AI type stuff. Getting the enemies to run after the player, and know when to run and hide type thing. If you could work on a Script that makes a decision based off of random number values, and then uses the fact of what kind of weapon the player has, whether he is in a vehicle like the dozer or not, and then use all of this to decide to run and flee or attack the player full on!

Make this script easy to use, with one function call from me, where all I have to do is specify the enemies name, so it can compare properties, like weapon, speed, vehicle possession, and then choose random(1,2) and if the value is 1 then Attack, if NOT 1 Then Flee, and program some believable walk, run animation functions that can be called named Flee, Attack which will be called right from the AI-Decision function, and all the functions do, is move a certain amount while playing the bone animation of either Flee or Attack from the enemie.mdl or enemie.x file, the animation will be pre-saved in the file, so all you have to do is call the required animation sequence, and it will play the required frames.

Hope this makes all this easy for you to do.

While you are doing this, I am modeling enemies for us to use, such as dogs, ninjas, killer attack bionic robots, where they are half demon, half robot. Almost all of the enemies in this game will have some sort of bionic robotic stuff attached to it.

See the kewl thing about the functions your coding, is we can re-use them over and over in other games, just changing a little bit. Like to add other animation names, or make the enemy run and hide more instead of all out attack chasing like we want for this game, I mean I want the enemies to give chase even across rooms, levels, etc.. no matter what barring the player from warping from the level to a previous level, and even then, maybe we would want the monster to warp into the same room with the player! That would be awesome..

I don't think noone has done that, so that nowhere they ran to, would be safe, they would have to run and gun or die!

So, Let me know when the functions / script files are ready to test out with current enemies. Also, you might want to throw together like a two room box -> box level to test the enemy chase capes. To make sure he chases you even when you leave the room, etc.. You could use the master cheif model from the AUM website models, to test him chasing you out. For testing purposes, I would put the camera into 3rd person view, and also make a function enabling the user to switch between first and 3rd person cameras, with perfect height, distance away and following abilities, at just the touch of a key, like say function key F2 or something, will rotate through all the camera views, so we can watch while testing AI, but then switch to first person view to see what the player is going to see.

Hope this helps keep you busy for a while.

PS.: This game is Called Insane Tech Support! So if you have any ideas, let me know. I have an air photo of the tech support building to use, along with actual dimensions etc.., so I am going to model it to scale in WED. Adding together the psychotic prisoners, of past, when it used to be a real psychiatric center, combined with doc's giving electric shock, combined with walking dead managers, and tech's chained to their desks, evil dead dogs chasing you, techs which trick you, get you to help, only to change on you when you come near eating your head.

Any ideas, drawings, models, test levels, and Lite-C and / or script files with the functions etc.. in it, zip them up and send them to: storm3@xxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks Buddy,

StOrM3

TricorneGames.org is again looking for an additional C/C++ programmer
    for our wargame team.

We are developing a series of strategy games all sharing a common rule
set. The game itself will be shareware but large parts of the codebase
are set up for modding and will be released under a free software
    license such as GPL.

Over the last months we were able to put together a working game
prototype and greatly improved the 3D engine, among other things.

We plan to release a small type of demo around Christmas. Until then
there is a ton of stuff that needs attention but we only have one
programmer. Work on the game is voluntary but a royalty deal will be
discussed before release of our first demo.
