Since we're venturing a little afield, i'd add this: i grew up during that
"sanity" period, i was in 1st year U of Toronto when the Cuban Missile
Crisis had us all wondering how good the Russian missiles were, and how
many targeted our city - expecting a major nuclear exchange any day. This
was the acute phase of a chronic threat that went on for 30+ years. The
"defense" policy was oficially called "MAD" (Mutual Assured Destruction).
We (western civilization) got thru it, in large part because the BGs had
infrastructure and population to protect too. It's not like u can
undiscover nuclear bombs, but we are now in a new phase, where the new BGs
don't have such limitations, nor a state to moderate their excesses, nor
even a return address, accurate to within three countries.
I predict, boys & gals, that by 2012 or earlier we'll see NYC sucessfully
attacked with a smuggled nuclear bomb - not one of those dirty-bomb
chemical explosives, i mean 20 to 80 kt blast, with casualties between one
and 6 million. If u wanna see ObL sweat, give him just one nuke, and ask
him, NYC or Tel Aviv?
And there are worse scenarios, like pre-placed nukes in 20 US cities, and
anonymous demands to pull US armed forces out of any non-US territory, or
one US city per day goes up. Think it'd be impossible to smuggle nukes into
US? Just tuck 'em in the bottom of the daily drug run from Columbia, which
has not noticeably abated due to stepped up border security. "Fond"? - ok...
We now return to the regularly-scheduled problem of job outsourcing... this
was just a test... bzzzap...
cheers - grant
