Looks like that's evolved into a Win2k/XP/2003 boot CD/DVD now. I'll 
give that a try. Thanks!

Yeah... That could be the case with my father's machine; it simply 
hangs in the login dialog when starting in any form of safe mode - 
almost as if someone's deliberately trying to stop me from fixing 
something.
