OK, 3 things I used were:

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.3, make sure you update it too, and once you've
done a scan or before, go to Immunize and immunize everything.

The second thing I use is Spyware Blaster. That has lots of javascript
blocking stuff. Again, be sure to update it first.

The third and final and most extreme thing I use is called HiJack This!
and basically lists a load of value from the registry but has no way of
knowing whether they are just personally settings or things that shouldn't
be there, so you to go through the list and correct only the ones you
think are wrong.

It might also be worth getting a registry monitoring program, so that if
it tries to change values in the Run and RunOnce folders you can tell it
not to. Maybe TeaTimer, which you get the option to install when you
install Spybot S&D, does this. I'm not sure.

I haven't read all the replies yet, so sorry if I have repeated things
everyone else has said.
