That was more trouble in windows for me. :)

Well most of the commercial stuff now a days is so crap that almost all
linux beta stuff is more solid than those. And Games are so crap when
they are realesed that I won't buy any before the first patch.

There of course are bad programs and good programs in both worlds, but
generally speaking the software that people write for themselves are
good in functionality, but doesn't have the easy of use of the
commercial software. Linux is not ready for the people who doesn't
understand computers at all like most of the computer users now a days.
But neither is Windows as we can see from the amount of spamming
Windoses in the net. Windows is easier to use for those, but it is also
much easier to missuse as well.

Best alternative would be a hybrid of the two plus system admining.

So OS with the Linux kernel and the GUI level of Windows without the
full admin rights for the user and some company to keep the machine up
to date like companies have. That would be the right way for majority
of the computer users of today. Sadly most of the people doon't want
anybody to 'watch' their computers, because "they can spy on me" and
thus left the computer to be spied by everybody who wants to do that.:(
