It's not abouth the Subject: header. It's about headers like
In-Reply-To:, References: and maybe some others. These are not
normally visible in most clients, but they *are* usually copied when
you hit reply. These headers allow clients and other tools to keep
track of threads regardless of Subject: - but they have the side
effect of causing confusion when people abuse the reply button.
